Main Street Fairmont Announces 2020 Feast of the Seven Fishes Plan

Updated: Nov 2, 2020

Modified Feast carries on tradition

Fairmont, WV - Main Street Fairmont announced today that the Feast of the Seven Fishes will be held December 11 and 12, 2020. This year, to comply with health and safety standards, the feast will be modified to include a televised cooking school, airing on WDTV, Friday December 11, a pop-up shop in downtown Fairmont, and a drive-thru feast where your favorite prepackaged delicacies can be picked up from the safety of your car Friday, December 11 and Saturday, December 12.

Kicking off this year’s Feast of the Seven Fishes, the Festival Cucina, the Italian cooking school, will air on WDTV.  Feast originators Bob and Shannon Tichnell will host the cooking school and prepare one of the traditional Italian delicacies associated with the feast.

In light of current COVID – 19 restrictions, hosting the annual street fair is not possible. However, Main Street Fairmont is collaborating with various feast vendors to make available the Italian foods normally found at the festival. Items will be available at a pop-up store in downtown Fairmont and through the Feast of the Seven Fishes online store. Customers may place orders on the online store from November 14 thru Friday, December 4. The pop-up store will be open weekly on Friday and Saturday during the same period.

"Our goal is to preserve the tradition of the Feast of the Seven Fishes in these difficult times," said Main Street Executive Director Tim Liebrecht. "The TV cooking school and drive-thru feast are just a few of the ways guests can discover the friendly city while complying with current health and safety guidelines," he continued.

Individuals wishing to purchase the Italian goodies may order online starting November 14th on Main Street Fairmont's website at mainstreetfairmont.org. All orders must be received by 5 p.m., Friday, December 4, or visit the pop-up store during the same time period. Main Street volunteers will distribute orders, Friday, December 11 and Saturday, December 12, at Monroe Street's old fire station. For more information regarding the feast or to register to become a vendor, please visit: https://www.mainstreetfairmont.org/event-details/the-feast-of-the-seven-fishes, or you may email questions to info@mainstreetfairmont.org.
