The 2021 Feast of the Seven Fishes is back in person this year, and we’ve created a weekend celebration to kick off the Holiday Festival. The Feast of the Seven Fishes Holiday Celebration includes a screening of the Feast of the Seven Fishes movie, a two-day Hometown Christmas Market, and the Feast of the Seven Fishes Festival at a new time and more rooted in its Italian heritage than ever before. In addition, a free Christmas concert will be held on Saturday after the Feast closes to cap off the weekend.
To kick off the celebration, we encourage young and old alike to join their friends and neighbors under the big top on Thursday, Dec. 9, to screen the Feast of the Seven Fishes movie, filmed here in Fairmont. Online ticket sales will close on Dec. 8. Tickets will not be available at the door. Get your ticket today at https://www.mainstreetfairmont.org/event-details/feast-of-the-seven-fishes-movie.
When reimagining the Feast, we looked closely at the original intent of the Feast, which is to pay homage to the Italian families and culture that make this area so unique. Our goal is to create an event where stories of the past and traditions can be passed on to the next generation. To do this, we focused solely on vendors preparing Italian foods or specialty items for the Feast. The Feast will have a new starting time – 1 p.m. this year and continuing until 7 p.m. We will be stringing lights along Monroe Street to enhance this true Italian Street Fair to enable this change.
The Festival Cucina also has a new location this year. Thanks to the hard work of Bob and Shannon Tinnell, the Festival Cucina will have a new home in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. At the Cucina, seven local chefs will prepare a selection of Italian foods sure to satisfy. Tickets may be purchased online until Dec. 3 at https://www.mainstreetfairmont.org/event-details/festival-cucina
For those folks who are uncomfortable attending the Feast of the Seven Fishes in person, we have brought back our online store, where guests can select from almost 100 food and other items ordinarily available at the Feast. Unfortunately, the online store will close on 11/30, so place your order today at www.mainstreetfairmont.org/store .
We realize this event is for everyone, so we’ve added the two-day Hometown Christmas Market in the parking lot at the corners of Monroe and Adams streets. Currently, we have over 50 small businesses who will be present and prepared with all the gifts you need for that hard to shop for person on your Christmas list.
