2021 is finally here! After a long winter, spring is on its way, and with it the optimism that accompanies new beginnings. At Main Street Fairmont, our team has been hard at work solidifying our programming for this year, strengthening our community partnerships and building on our mission of creating a more prosperous, active and beautiful downtown Fairmont! Here is a little sneak peek into what 2021 holds for Main Street, and the Fairmont community.

In January of this year, we are proud to have launched our Discover the Friendly City Campaign. Through this marketing initiative, we are shining a spotlight on many of our amazing local businesses and Fairmont’s rich history. For more on #DiscoverTheFriendlyCity, visit www.MainStreetFairmont.org, or check out our social media platforms Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.

Beautify The Friendly City Initiative:

Our Beautify the Friendly City initiative continues to grow. This past week, in partnership with the City of Fairmont, we unveiled new light pole banners throughout the downtown area. This is just the first of many small steps we are taking to bring more beauty and life into our downtown community.

We are happy to announce that with the return of spring, we will be launching our Downtown Flower Basket campaign in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for our launch announcement, and plan now to sponsor a basket in honor or memory of a loved one, or as a great way to advertise your love and dedication to Fairmont!

In 2020, we hosted two community clean-up days and were thrilled with the community response. This year, we will be offering more great opportunities for our community to get involved in our Beautify the Friendly City initiative, by hosting several Community Clean-Up Days throughout the year. These are a wonderful way to give back while investing in the community we love! You can sign up now to volunteer on our website at www.MainStreetFairmont.org/take-action

Hometown Saturdays and Hometown Markets:

The Hometown Event idea came to life last year with some incredible partnerships, collaborations, and a lot of community buy-in. We are excited to continue our safe, healthy event series into 2021! We are working with our local government agencies, the health department, community members, vendors, and other partners to create a robust lineup of safe, exciting and family-friendly events throughout the summer 2021 season and beyond! Stay tuned for some more announcements on Hometown Events coming soon!

Growing Team:

As our organization continues to grow, so does our team, and we are excited to welcome several new partners. First, on Jan. 1, we welcomed Dan Swiger to our team as our program manager. Dan brings with him years of great experience, but most importantly a deep passion and love for Fairmont. Dan is an invaluable asset, and we are proud to have him on our team! Next, we recently welcomed new additions Lewis Boyce and Michael Garcia to our board of directors. Both of these outstanding community members bring vision, passion and leadership to our organization. We look forward to the great things ahead for our team!

Thank you all for your continued support of the Main Street Fairmont program. Fairmont has much to be proud of, and we look forward to continuing to work together to create a more prosperous, active and beautiful downtown Fairmont!
