Main Street Fairmont announced this week that Alexander Petry has officially started his tenure as the Executive Director of Main Street Fairmont. Before joining Main Street Fairmont, Petry served as the Assistant City Planner for the City of Fairmont. During his time at the City, Petry worked closely with Main Street Fairmont and also served on the organization's governing board. In his position as Executive Director, Petry will continue many of the projects Main Street Fairmont has started over the last few years, including downtown beautification projects, and public events. Additionally, he will focus on supporting existing businesses downtown and helping to recruit new businesses to the area. "I enjoy the work that Main Street does. It's extremely fulfilling work and it's a job that I always had an eye on" said Petry "In this role, I can narrow my focus, work a little harder and give more attention to certain projects important to our historic downtown," he continued.
President of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Executive Director Search Committee, Aaron Yanuzo, stated, "Alex's relationship between the City of Fairmont and Main Street Fairmont made him the ideal candidate for this position. On behalf of the Board, we believe he will bring new ideas that will set in motion the next phase of the organization." Dan Swiger, the former Main Street Fairmont Executive Director, will be working with Alex to ensure a smooth transition. Swiger has served as the Executive Director since January of 2022 and has been instrumental in the growth of Main Street Fairmont's events and programs in the economic development of Fairmont's historic downtown business district. "I have genuinely enjoyed my time serving Main Street Fairmont," stated Swiger.
